Bus Operator Interviews: What do you think about the Santa Rosa CityBus organization?
As we mentioned yesterday, we have some spare footage that we shot for our 50th Anniversary video and we have divided it up into different categories. Today's video references our relatively new Transit Operations Building, completed in the fall of 2005. The new facility has locker space for up to 100 drivers (or other employees), 11 workstations/offices for transit operations administration, two meeting facilities and restrooms and shower facilities for transit staff. The new space is 8,000 square feet, a secure facility, and is designed to accommodate our transit functions for 10-20 years. That is compared to the old transit operations facility, which was housed in a small room (20' x 50') within a public works department building and held locker space for 48 drivers/staff. Those 48 lockers did not come close to accommodating all of our drivers and staff. We had basically outgrown our previous transit operations facility at least 5 years prior to moving in to the new building. We may write more about our Transit Operations Building in the future if there is interest.
