Introducing.....Our New Buses!

We received four new buses into our maintenance yard a couple of weeks ago. They are all 40' New Flyer gasoline-electric hybrids. They are all low-floor and ADA accessible and have 38 seats. These buses are in addition to the three Gillig buses we received in 2008 (one of which is featured at the top of our blog).

Three of these new New Flyer buses will be "expansion" buses and one will be a replacement for our old bus, #911, the 1991 Gillig Detroit. The expansion buses will not mean that we will be able to expand services. Instead, they will give us the capacity to have sufficient numbers of spare buses on hand in order to make sure that if we have mechanical issues with one of our buses that is out in service we won't have to actually cancel routes. Instead, we will be able to deploy one of the reserve buses into action.

We can't wait to get these buses out onto the road, but in the meantime we thought you'd like to see how we install our name and graphics onto a bus that has its base colors in place. We'll provide more information later on the environmental benefits and other cool features that come with these new buses. We'll also pay a tribute to Ol' 911 on its way out the door. In the meantime, enjoy this peak behind the scenes!!

(Thanks to my friends, The Real Sippin' Whiskeys, for providing the background music. The song has nothing to do with the subject, but it is peppy. And believe me when I tell you, it is much easier to listen to than the background noises in the garage. Besides, I love the music they play and I love buses, so I thought I'd see what they were like combined!)
