Santa Rosa CityBus enters the TransForm Car Free Challenge!

I am so excited because one of our own Santa Rosa Transit Department staff, Fabian Favila, has decided to enter the 2010 TransForm Car Free Challenge! It shouldn't be too difficult for him to succeed in living car-free for a week, despite the fact that he lives in San Francisco, works in Santa Rosa, and has family all over the Bay Area. In fact, he regularly travels around the Bay Area by bus and train. What will be tough for him is.....BLOGGING about it! We are all gently encouraging him to break out of his shell and start putting some of those enjoyable transit experience stories to good use and, personally, I can't wait until I get to read all about his travels in the upcoming week.

There are a couple of other Santa Rosa people participating in this weeklong event, including Tanya Narath and City of Santa Rosa employee Ed Buonaccorsi, both competing on the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy Team. The competition is an exercise in community building and a fund raiser for TransForm, an organization devoted to advocating for world-class public transportation and walkable communities in the Bay Area, California and the entire country.

It's not too late to join the Car Free Challenge! Even though it starts on June 1st, you can register up to June 2nd! Help create new habits, reduce your carbon footprint, save money and get in shape - challenge yourself to live car free (or as close to it as you can get).
